Tickets: $ 12 – 80
We present the rare and powerful Water Passion After St. Matthew by Tan Dun (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon). Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of J.S. Bach, the work features soloists, chorus, and water percussion: bowls and basins filled with water, manipulated by hand and amplified by contact microphones. Tan Dun’s music is a fascinating, refreshing blend of Western classical music and traditional Chinese ritual.

To support a convergence of Passion projects taking place throughout the Spring, Symphony Tacoma is collaborating with fellow presenters Pacific Lutheran University and University of Washington to bring attention to a joint series of events, including lectures, a film, and musical performances. More information will be posted here when it becomes available.
