Shostakovich: Piano Concerto No. 2
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 “Pathetique”

OPENING NIGHT. Charlie Albright returns to headline our season opener that features works by Shostakovich and Tchaikovsky. Patrice Rushen’s Color Express is dedicated to those who suffered hardship and loss due to COVID-19. Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 deviates from the traditional Russian angst of his previous works with a freeing, whimsical charm. Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 is regarded as one of the defining works of his career and the Romantic era.

Single tickets go on sale September 1.

Hailed as “among the most gifted musicians of his generation” by The Washington Post, Charlie Albright has been praised for his “jaw-dropping technique and virtuosity meshed with a distinctive musicality” by The New York Times. A pianist, composer and improviser, he connects with audiences like no other, crossing genres…and making it fun.

Born in Centralia, WA, Mr. Albright began piano lessons at the age of 3. He earned an Associate of Science degree at Centralia College while still in high school and was the first classical pianist in the Harvard College/New England Conservatory 5-Year AB/MM Joint Program, completing a Bachelor’s Degree as an Economics major and Pre-Med student at Harvard, and a Master of Music Degree in Piano Performance at NEC. He graduated with the prestigious Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School, and he is an official Steinway Artist.
