Bologne: Symphony No. 2
Mozart: Andante & Rondo for Flute & Orchestra
Fauré: Fantasie for Flute & Chamber Orchestra
Ravel: Le Tombeau de Couperin
MELODIC REVERIE. This lush collection of European classics features Principal Flute Mary Jensen center stage in our chamber orchestra setting with her exuberant and balmy tones in Mozart and Fauré. Often referred to by his title Le Chevalier de Saint-Georges, Joseph Bologne was regarded as one of Mozart’s most accomplished contemporaries and the first classical composer of African descent. His wonderful Symphony No. 2 stands out for its seamless ease. Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin is a tribute to the composer’s brothers in arms from World War I.
